When I was in grade school, I remember learning the pledge of allegiance and standing to say it every morning in my classroom with all my little classmates, hands over our hearts. The 200th anniversary of our country’s birth in 1976 was a huge deal. Everyone — I mean everyone — had flags out on their homes, cars, etc. It was a great celebration. Now as we approach our 250th, here we are…
